" Innocent eyes !! " - Kashmir Flycatcher

Ooty -India, Jan 2013 This is an insectivorous species which breeds in the north-west Himalayas in the Kashmir region of the Indian Subcontinent. It is migratory and winters in the hills of central Sri Lanka and the Western Ghats of India. This is a vulnerable species with a decreasing population and breeding range, which is also severely fragmented as a result of the destruction of temperate mixed deciduous forests by commercial timber extraction, agriculture and livestock grazing. The population is thought to be between 2,500 and 10,000 birds. This cutie was perched on a beautiful moss covered branch, this photo is one of my favorites .....view and enjoy Common Name: Kashmir Flycatcher Family: Muscicapidae Genus: Ficedula Species: F. subrubra IUCN status: Vulnerable EXIF:Nikon D5000| NIKKOR 70-300mmVR | 1/200s | 0 EV | f/5.6 | ISO 400 | 300mm | Spot Metering | Manual |Handheld| Flash Not Used
